Aging: the Disease, the Cure, the Implications

by Administrator on May 19th, 2008

Applying the new technologies of regenerative and genetic medicine, the engineering approach to aging promises to dramatically extend healthy human life within the next few decades.

How do you and your loved ones stand to benefit from the coming biomedical revolution? Are you prepared? Is society prepared?

At Aging 2008 you will engage with top scientists and advocates as they present their findings and advice, and learn what you can do to help accelerate progress towards a cure for the disease and suffering of aging.

Doors open at 4:00 pm on June 27th, 2008, at UCLA’s Royce Hall. All attendees must register in advance; entry is free and includes a complimentary drinks reception before the presentations begin. For an additional $30, attendees also have the opportunity to attend a special dinner with the speakers.

This is followed on Monday March 16th at 8pm by a talk/audio performance by Johannes Grenzfurthner titled The Innermost Unifier: Today it’s the Corporate Anthem. When we last saw Johannes, he and his co-cospirators from Monochrom were boiling down sixty gallons of coca cola to make a brick of coke and burying people alive in our backyard. For this event, Johannes will give a theoretical and applied overview on the musical genre of the corporate anthem.

Machine Project - Announcement

by Administrator on February 21st, 2008

Dear friends,

The only logical way for us to follow a week of live insects and organic pickling is to premiere scenes from a new film on the history of television, the Cold War, and Alfred Hitchcock doubles. Please join us this Saturday, February 23rd at 8pm for a free lecture and presentation by video artist Johan Grimonprez, the current Hammer Museum artist in residence. Joined by filmmaker Tyler Hubby, Grimonprez will discuss his work-in-progress “Double Take” and present scenes from the film.
